It was great to meet the class today! There were many familiar faces as well as lots of students who I am really looking forward to meeting and becoming familiar with.
It is always sad to say goodbye to a fixture in our lives. Mr. Roach has obviously done a really great job of taking the class through some really big ideas and interesting texts thus far. We will be drawing upon the work that has already been done in order to move forward, through the second half of the semester. Specifically, we will be using our knowledge of literary criticism as well as critical thinking in our next unit. Today I brought a selection of texts in for students to peruse. Students will be choosing one non-fiction text to read and study for the next few weeks.
The texts are:
Fifteen Days
127 Hours
Columbine
The Glass Castle
Gang Leader for a Day
Chew on This
A Perfect Storm
The Game
Under the Bridge
If you were in class and had a chance to look at the books, please jot down your thoughts about your favourite one. What appealed to you about this text?

ReplyDeleteThe glass castle appealed to me because it is a memoir and also the nature of the book.
